Venus Rising
Pâté de Verre, flameworked glass, nautilus shell, fabric
61 H x 28 W x 18 D cm
Exploring the dichotomy between the fragility of nature and the detritus of man’s wasteful attitude to the earth, frivolity and lightness play across the surfaces of this object, while we are reminded that life is ephemeral. Nestled snugly within this jumble of life and rusty decay, like a treasure, is the pearly shell of a nautilus, the age-old symbol of Divine Proportion.
