Venus Rising
Pâté de Verre, flamework borosilicate glass, polished nautilus shell and fabric
61 H x 28 W x 18 D cm
Exploring the dichotomy between the fragility of nature and the detritus of man’s wasteful attitude to the earth, frivolity and lightness play across the surfaces of this object, while we are reminded that life is ephemeral. Nestled snugly within this jumble of life and rusty decay, like a treasure, is the pearly shell of a nautilus, the age-old symbol of Divine Proportion.
Ode to the Sun King
Pâté de Verre, flamework borosilicate glass, natural nautilus shell and fabric

Natural forms are a never-ending source of inspiration and none more than the mysterious creatures found in the depths of the oceans. Influenced by the works of Ernst Haeckel as well as the opulence of baroque and rococo traditions, it is a celebration of the beauty and complexity of the natural world.
