This piece deals with the tensions created between two totally opposite beliefs, both of which are 'correct'. From one viewpoint, the bowl is torn between two ideals. From another, it is apparent that both the truths are inextricably intertwined and not only support each other, but also support the bowl.
The first thing the viewer is conscious of, is the bowl.
